The locations for this book required accents suitable for Brighton, Newcastle, and the journey between. Part of the narrator's job, reading through, is to decide on voicings for all the characters, and there are plenty of signposts in good characterisation like Shani's that help, so that you hopefully get them just right. Young Lottie finds work in an old people's care home where, among the residents, she meets feisty Bobby, and Alice, aged ninety-two. Something dark happened long ago to Alice to make her apparently unreachable, and with the help of Bobby and taxi driver Tony, Lottie discovers that not all ghosts are dead.
